0:04 - “Something’s Missing” from Come From Away, by Irene Sankoff, David Hein. COME FROM AWAY National Tour, 2023-2025, playing Irish Flute, Whistles, and Uilleann Pipes. This clip features Irish Flute and an understanding of Traditional Irish Music through use of Celtic ornamentations and embellishing melodic lines.

0:24 - “Wall Rat” from Suite from Ratatouille, original score by Michael Giocchino, arr. by April DiDomenico. Performed in December 2022 with the Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra, where I played Principal Flute. This solo features strong technical facility with runs going across the whole range of the instrument.

0:41 - “Loneliness of Evening” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s "Cinderella." I played Reed 1 in this production with the North Andover Drama Guild in December 2024. This moment showcases strong classical tone, lyricism and phrasing in the mid to upper range of the flute.

1:01 - “Dusk” from Bunny to the Moon, score written by Paul Zhao. I work as a freelance recording session musician and had the opportunity to play on this session in April 2023. This short film by Akira Maynard has earned several accolades since its release to film festivals, including being a finalist for the Rookie Awards Film of the Year and being an Official Selection from the Asian American International Film Festival. This moment features interpreting time and freely playing, as this moment was rather improvisatory in nature.

1:21 - "Café 1930" from Histoire du Tango for flute and guitar, by Astor Piazzolla. Performed at my Graduation Recital on April 30th, 2023. This clip showcases my ensemble skills with a classical guitarist, an understanding of tango/dance styles, and clean double tonguing throughout the range of the flute, especially with navigating tricky intervallic jumps.

1:41 - "I. Panic" from The Mourner's Suite by Simon Sadiković, debuted at the Society of Composers Spring Showcase in April 2023. This clip demonstrates an understanding of contemporary flute repertoire on solo alto flute.

2:02 - "All Around Aunt Ruby's Garden," a traditional polka which doubles as the "Screech" theme in Come From Away. This clip features the Irish flute and showcases my understanding of traditional Irish music through ornamentations and phrasing.

2:22 - "II. Allegro" from Flute Sonata in E Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed in the Fall 2022 Recital for the Collaborative Piano Lab students. This clip showcases my understanding of Baroque music through phrasing and double tonguing.

2:42 - Deep Blue for Flute and Piano, composed by Ian Clarke and performed at my Senior Graduation Recital on April 30th, 2023. This clip demonstrates my ability to perform the contemporary techniques of note bends and the use of alternate fingerings.

3:01 - Chet Baker's solo from "All The Things You Are." This clip features my own transcription of Chet Baker's solo, while playing along to his recording using jazz articulations and phrasing.

3:21 - "Bows" from Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella," where I played the Reed 1 book for a production through the North Andover Drama Guild in December 2024. This clip showcases my piccolo playing, blending in with the Eb clarinet, and a series of mixed articulations.

This Irish Flute solo in "Come From Away" is one of my favorite moments in the entire show. This solo is so beautiful and helps capture the uncertainty of what will happen next after the Come From Away's return home from Gander.

Logan Mitchell, Irish Flute Performed on September 29th, 2024, at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

In December 2024, I had the opportunity to perform Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" on Reed 1 through the North Andover Drama Guild. Performances were from December 14th-16th at North Andover High School in North Andover, MA. This is my Reed 1 reel featuring selected moments on flute, piccolo, and alto flute.

In April 2023, I had the honor of collaborating with my dear friend Paul Zhao, who wrote the score to this short film. I recorded flute and piccolo for this project, and I have been in love with it since I first saw it. “Bunny to the Moon” was directed by Akira Maynard and Sammy Liu, and was developed at Savannah College of Art and Design. It is a modern adaptation of a Japanese folktale, telling the story of a girl named Aurora who befriends an extraterrestrial bunny while living alone in the forrest. This rendition has earned many accolades, including qualifying as a finalist in the 2023 Rookie Awards, and becoming an official selection for the Asian American International Film Festival. After a successful run through the film festival circuit, it has now been shared to YouTube on December 30, 2024.

This polka is featured in a variety of ways in Come From Away, and is dubbed as the "Screech" theme. It's the first tune played as the scene changes to emulate The Legion, a bar in Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador, where a few of the Come From Aways become Honorary Newfoundlanders through being "screeched in."

“Sleepy Hollow” by McKinley Foster (Core Memory) is an original work initially for mandolin, guitar, and synths. McKinley was working on an arrangement for the members of the current Come From Away Band to premiere at our second Open Mic Night on November 28, 2024. This video is a clip of that arrangement featuring McKinley Foster on guitar, Gioia Gedicks on violin, and Logan Mitchell on flute. IG: @corememorybeats

"The Mourner's Suite" is a work for solo alto flute written by Simon Sadiković, a composer, conductor, and dear friend to Logan. This work was premiered at the Old South Church in Boston, MA, on April 25th, 2023, at the Berklee Society of Composers Spring Showcase.

"FOCUS" is a project by sound designer Taijee Shavers that showcases his ability take a sound and create something new and exciting. When I was presented with this piece, I found that it resembled "Syrinx" by Claude Debussy in a variety of ways, and was interested in how Taijee was going to transform this written piece into an exploration of sound design. Coupled with Somer's choreography, this piece is captivating throughout, and I am honored to have been a part of this project.

Logan Mitchell performs "Theme and Variations" for flute and string orchestra with the Classical Musicians Coalition Orchestra at Berklee College of Music, under the direction of Arjan Dogra. Performed in December 2021, with cuts for time.

This performance was featured in a student recital for the Accompaniment Lab at Berklee College of Music in December 2022. Pianists in this recital spend the semester learning the skills to become talented accompanists, with a showcase recital at the end of the semester.

A brief look into the North-American Tour of Come From Away, coming to a city near you!

In August 2024, I had the incredible opportunity with the North-American Tour of “Come From Away” to make history and be a part of the first ever Broadway production to perform through the USO on three different active military bases. We performed a concert staging of the show at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH (inside of the National Museum of the USAF in a hangar full of planes!); The Sadowski Center in Fort Knox, KY; and The Shaw Physical Fitness Center in Fort Campbell, KY. Performing our show to hundreds of active military personnel and their families at no cost was such a rewarding experience, and felt like the best way to thank our troops for their service.
